Lyon have confirmed the signing of key defender Marcal from relegated Premier League team Bournemouth for a fee reported to be £15m.
The Brazilian centre-back has been with Bournemouth since joining them from Corinthians in 2016 and has made over 70 appearances for the club, but struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular under new manager Eddie Howe last season.
Marcal's arrival at the Parc OL is expected to bolster Lyon's defensive options ahead of the upcoming Ligue 1 campaign, which kicks off on August 9th.
In addition to his strong aerial ability and excellent positioning, Marcal is also known for his work rate and physicality, which will be crucial for Lyon, who are looking to compete for the Ligue 1 title this season.
Bournemouth have already announced that they will receive £10m in compensation for Marcal, although it remains to be seen whether he will be able to find a place in the Bournemouth squad for next season.
